I start work at Toowoomba hospital tomorrow. My main job will basically be to admit and take consults. I don't have access to the ED yet. I don't have access to labs or radiology. I don't know how to reach a consultant in the event of an emergency. I don't know how orders are ordered. I don't even think there are admit order forms. Is this going to be a problem?
Not a problem. Just make sure you know how to give (1) vanc/Zosyn, (2) Cytomel, (3) and pulse steroids. The rest is just fluff, hahaha :)
ReplyDeleteDr. Cox would call you a noobie. :P
ReplyDeleteBut no problem. There are no problems unless we view them as such.
Vancomycin is restricted. Pipercillin/tazobactam (Zosyn) is really restricted. Ticarcillin/clavulanate (Timentin) is used instead like ampicillin/sulbactam (Unasyn). I'm always double checking if something is called something else or the same thing, which apparently amuses people. I'm also always double checking if a medication is available, which I'm not sure yet what response it elicits.
